J. Reuben Long Detention Center Expansion and Renovation

J. Reuben Long Detention Center

Brennan Architects provided programming and design services for this two-phased project that involved two 64-bed dormitory housing units in Phase I and 536 beds in Phase II.

Our Master Plan includes the design of a 3,000-bed campus with support space to accommodate that capacity. Phases I and II of this program add 536 beds, but our design provides for expansion of support space in modules to meet the needs of each added 500-bed increment.

Brennan Architects developed a design program for this Direct Supervision project that applies precast concrete to the modular system and the main building structure. This approach cut nearly nine months from the construction schedule and millions of dollars from the project budget. It offered our client a higher degree of security, with building materials manufactured in a controlled factory environment and assembled on-site.

Brennan Management Services, LLC, is providing all pre-construction and construction management expertise on this project.

Brennan Consulting & Training Services, LLC worked with the architectural team during the design phase to organize space, work flow, and circulation patterns to achieve the greatest functionality and security.
